Bathurst 1000 Tribute - 2023 Bathurst 1000 Tribute 2023 - 4th Edition This will be the first time for this race on GT7, so some history and the format, and hopefully the 4th edition will be the best yet. It is a similar format to the prestigious ROC, a handicap race with drivers receiving an individual handicap. There have been 7 (3/2/2) different Divisions represented on the podium in the 3 editions so far. The 2nd year was brilliant race with the first 9 drivers over the line within 7 secs of eachother. There have been some epic drives to win the race, and to podium. I will again in the fine judgments of the handicapping favor the lower Divs. There is plenty of current info for my handicapping as always from the division times. All handicaps will be transparent and will have fluid adjustment, especially as entries come in. Scrutiny and helpful input to the handicapping from all involved would be appreciated. Approximate Handicaps will begin to be released ASAP. No Qualification. Staggered, timed, handicapped start. Bathurst 1000 Liveries present and retro, please. **Please err to being over respectful on track to eachother. This especially please for the higher Divs toward lower Divs, but visa versa too. Be smart, battling won't help at any time in this race apart from the last few laps. Better to try and stay in a slipstream to save fuel, or work together bump drafting, than to battle or defend which will only cost you time. Also the specs have been set to open up a multitude of pit options for strategy/avoiding traffic. Pit entry and exit just do not impede, be careful of the game spitting you out on exit, and check for traffic upon exit. Your starting time/handicap is your responsibility to know, and to start at that time, not before. It is an honor system that can easily be checked after the race. Just a shout out to to the those that raced in the Bathurst Tribute 2 years ago, after a year hiatus and the late decision to run the race this year. @T F Eccles, @Peersy @NAACS, @Ian Cannan, @UrsineSaturn9, @boneslightning, @doodah27, @RPeeM808, @Stew Wilson, @Steve Neilson, @BigNorm106, @Xtr3meNZer Obviously all ROOZ members are welcome to enter. Will need 10 entries to make the race worthwhile, and it will be one room this year only (max 16), even in the unlikely circumstance atm of their being more than 16 entries. Does it have to be just the Mustang? Throwing it out there that 2 closely matched Gr3 cars would make it interesting.. I.e Corvette and Mustang. Close on PP.
It would become a Corvette race I think because it drives better and is quicker via consistency and pace. Also it will effect handicapping. It was very last minute to run it this year and GT7 limits your ability to adjust cars power and weight to get the best out of the Mustang like I could on GTS. I actually entertained other cars, but decided on the Mustang as it is at least a stable G3 car and is still the main car used at Bathurst. If we only get 8 or 9 entries I will put a poll up because the race will be too boring. Probably 1 half distance and the other half distance in another car via a poll.
Have to agree with @Apex_64 here. Whenever I've been in sessions with open Gr3 at Bathurst, the fast guys pick the 'vette and it usually wins out over the Mustang. In order to get some sort of parity it'd require tuning in GT7's current set up.
When I drove the Mustang knowing I couldn't fiddle with weight and power I thought about tuning. But time is the enemy now, to handicap would be impossible. Next year I think a longer lead up with tuning is the way to go. Mustang is so different to this seasons car, must brake earlier to balance the car for it to turn in. Definitely a rear brake balance car, 1 to 3 depending on driving style too.
Thats fair. I wasnt out to seek advantage, more so to reflect some diversity in manufacturer honouring the race. Doesnt have to be the vette,i just say that because Chevy/Ford. And i have a Vette so me driving a Ford is a crime haha. I think with short notice, one manufacturer is fair. Maybe we can look at an event for the Bathurst 12H in Feb where we can have multi manufacturers. Im not a GT7 guru so im not all across how we do that. But im happy to help where i can with testing and times.
