Looks good. I can imagine one of the challenges will be communication. People might get confused about what room they're supposed to join, particularly as some don't know right until the last minute whether they can join or not
I like the fresh idea but who's to say someone in Room 2 or 3 doesn't have a better race then some in Room 1 (may be better on a certain track) and get disadvantaged in points. Or are points allocated based on overall finishing time across all rooms?
Definitely sounds interesting, though a little bit confusing as well. But hey, I am easy and open to (most) things!!!
yes someone who has a better race in room 2 than someone in room 1 is disadvantaged as they will score less. But likely next round they will be up in room 1 and able to score more points than they would be able to in room 2
Hmm ok definitely viable. But I guess technically there would only be 1 overall winner across all entrants? It would also take away a little of the prestige of winning a championship for those that are the equivalent of the current Div 2/3/4/5 entrants
there would still be the div 2-5 winners but they would have the opportunity to get bigger points in higher rooms
Ah ok so graded into a division at the start of season but with the ability to move up and earn greater points with good performances. I like it
So based on this idea, I have taken the data @Matthyus collated on the total race time for all drivers from round 1 and done the calculations (adding 5secs for div2, 10secs div3, 15s div4 & 20s d5) Each driver who DSC, DNS or parks up, gets one round where this doesn't cause a drop to the division below (only exception is a DNS where the driver has informed they cannot attend in writing either on forum or psn chat pre-race - this can also be done by another driver) The drivers from round 1 who DNS and did not leave a message in writing were: @MINT_GTR @Cameron Neane @shaun0899@gmail @GlaserHalfFull @Mickez123 So in this instance, if we were running this format, is what the rooms for round 2 would look like: ROOM 1 Keeden231 CaptainRisky21 Normxc SR_BryanF TUBBSTER_22 MONSTAR-1 groover33 Mustafur S1E2E3TH apex_64_ VikChan81 SR_Pubs16 gtkingx JonoStan96 xlxy90 MINT_GTR ROOM 2 Motors560 razor4797 DRZ-Hatfield mightymurph51 speedytyres BigChopperDog Viperzed GT_bananajosh1 godzilla_rising njknordy SR_Mezign emmo46 old_timer05 BiGkEv_87 NAACS Cameron Neane ROOM 3 incey fubbletrouble888 kiwinado UrsineSaturn9 TacticalHomework tfeccles Xtr3meNZer Slartybar johnnoclint COME_AND_GET_ME7 Whizz94 xX---BURGO---Xx shaun0899 chatwin glaserhalfull ROOM 4 Blunty075 X-3vi1m00n Max_Gassit_28 VARDZ_99 d_karki AB_Saints_25 Dragonfly11- ozglenn0513 sparklehead83 Road2FURY anders_race patg65 Steve_73_GOOF Buster_Danis mickez123 ROOM 5 Royal_Clarkness maccajack77 Jonesy82360 FeZZa_21 webnomad RAE1982 Traktor_grease bitsamissin_77 sooby_scott TonyFourFingerz peersy_23 GQPatrolWagon Crunch630 (Snr) BJ88 easyprey007
@Hatfield so penalties are carried across? Without it I would have been 10th at Tsukuba. It's good if it is. Might make people think more long term about pulling risky moves (or Mezzy moves lol).
What about A & B classings in each divison regardless of size to give guys lower down the table something to race for, maybe it will help keep numbers higher during the season this way. Or even a rookie championship like how Indycar does it for new drivers to that division.
Taking @Hatfield's proposed model for Season 13, and using his post of the round 2 starting line up plus data kindly supplied by @Matthyus here's what the other rounds we've run would have looked like. The drivers in blue are those the did not start and are on their first allowed drop round. Those is red had DSC the round before. @Hatfield this going to need some process planning as there's a bit of admin required to ge this right. You'll need to consider what happens to drivers who miss rounds where they have nominated and also what happens to drivers that miss consecutive rounds w/o notice but then return. I'm working on what the points standings would using the new points system too. Oh, and @Matthyus, really appreciate your work each week.
Here are the points standings after round 4 using the proposed model. I ranked each room above using the actual race time from each round of this season, then applied the points as proposed by Hat. Where a driver had a DNS I gave them zero points, and for the DSC ranked then at the bottom of their room. This is not overly accurate, merely an indication of how the model might work. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19j6NAyoQ2k9r38L4112DyexKfE5Tt_7xwIGORKpZxGc/edit?usp=sharing
