WELCOME to Season 9 for RaceOnOz GT7!
Please take a couple minutes to read the following so you have an understanding of what is expected on race night.
If you have any questions, or want clarification on any of the rules or regulations please ask!

    ROOM OPEN:
Room captains may have practice rooms open beforehand but should have the official room up by 7:30pm AEST. Please be on time, or let the room captain or div thread know if you may be late. If all agree, the room may wait for you, Within reason. Please remember we have drivers from NZ, and later starts mean a much later night for them.

    SIGHT ISSUES:
Before qualifying, exit to lobby and spend 30 seconds in spectate mode, scroll through the list of drivers on track and make sure that you can see their car. If you can't see somebody (and they are confirmed as being on track), exit the lobby, re-join, and check again. Type the number of cars you can see in the lobby chat and cross check with other drivers to ensure clarity.

    QUALIFYING : 8pm AEST for 10 mins.
Feel free to run practice laps prior to qualifying, The host will trigger a 'Room Reset' closer to the commencement of Qualifying.

    PITS ARE OPEN DURING QUALIFYING

RACE START TIME : 8:15pm AEST

    LAG ISSUES / ROOM RESTARTS:
This is up to the room host/captains. If there is a Disconnection (or cars stuck on grid) at race start, it is sporting to try to get them back in, which may mean a new room to be set up. I would suggest only having 1 restart if required due to DSC, due to having to set up the room from scratch and also having to set timed laps in order to set the grid. Please be as reasonable as you can with this....

    Race Start - Rolling Start
For the first time EVER, we are trialling a manually operated double file rolling start in Sunday League. Below you'll find a quick run through on how this will work on the night.

Drivers will set off from the grid in a sensible manner, beginning their formation lap. The speed of the polesitter during this lap is totally up to them, however exiting T10 (the Le Mans Chicane), the polesitter MUST hold 150kph (or similar) until the start zone and pull off to their desired side of the circuit as the field goes double file behind them. The field must not accelerate and brake erratically or weave after this point. The field MUST be set by the start zone. The "start zone" is a theoretical set of lines between which the start of the race may occur, triggered by the polesitter accelerating to race speed. The first line is across the circuit when the grass begins on the infield, drivers left. At any point after this line has been crossed by the pole sitter, the race may begin. The second line is the start/finish timing line. If the polesitter reaches the start/finish line and hasn't yet elected to accelerate, the race will begin automatically. Any drivers who fail to obey starting procedure and hold up the lobby by accelerating away at the standing start will receive ONE WARNING over the season, after which they will be sent to the rear of the grid for each breach. Any major issues will require a restart of the race. The race starts will be under the jurisdiction of the Room Captain/s and only they may call for a Red Flag/Restart unless stated prior.

    TURN 1 LAP 1:
The old saying goes, you can’t win the race on lap 1, but you can definitely lose it. Please be mindful of other drivers on lap 1 coming into turn 1, and for that matter, the entire race. It can be very demoralizing to hot lap on your own for 45 minutes as I'm sure many of you are aware.

    TRACK LIMITS:
As we are running with 'track limit penalties" OFF, we will run with our usual Raceonoz track limit regulations. This means you MUST have at least 2 wheels on the ripple strip OR white line that defines the track limit. If you do make a mistake and have to run outside the limits, be aware that you are not allowed to gain any advantage, position or time wise. Track Limits protests may be launched by any active driver in the race.

Track Limits will be monitored at turns 1, 6, 9 & 10 as well as generally around the entire circuit. Track limits will be defined as two wheels on the yellow kerb, or white line, whichever is further out. The exit of turn 3 is able to be extended over the white line without incurring a penalty.

Straddling the apron line is prohibited, drivers must not have their left hand side wheels drop below the painted lines on the apron verge. Any driver found to be exploiting this may be investigated.

    CONTACT:
Is to be avoided at all times..... If you make contact with someone and gain an advantage, YOU ARE EXPECTED to give the spot back. Occasionally, Gran Turismo track limits may teleport a disadvantaged driver backwards on circuit to ‘reset’ them, if this occurs at the hand of another driver, IT IS EXPECTED that the driver at fault will wait and redress the position.
Side by side 'rubbing' is racing is allowed and promoted within reason, but all drivers are expected to give racing room. For clarity surrounding racing room, please feel free to PM @Viperzed
Show each other RESPECT! It is difficult enough to drive the car at the limit on your own, without someone squeezing you within a millimeter of the grass.
So be patient and show respect to your fellow drivers.
If you are redressing contact, please do so out of the way of other cars, off the racing line, or if there isn't much room, off track.

    PIT ENTRY/EXIT LINES:
Pit Line Penalties are ON so you will be penalised in game if you cut any part of the entry or exit lines. Be mindful entering the pits that you need to be precise on where you enter the lane, if you are too wide, you will be spat out onto the infield. You may receive a penalty for misjudging your line on entry. Be mindful not to impede other cars on your way in. On pit exit, cars exiting the lane are reminded to keep drivers left if there are any cars approaching, you will have to give them space.

    BLUE FLAGS:
Please observe blue flags, and move out of the way of faster cars if you are being lapped. Failure to observe blue flags WILL result in a penalty

    STEWARDS GROUP AND RACE PROTESTS:
This season, the Head Steward will be @Viperzed. If you have reason to protest, please SAVE YOUR REPLAY, and then let him know via a PM.
DO NOT BLOW UP IN THE FORUM OR IN THE ROOM CHAT. There have been multiple incidents where the replays from drivers have been different, so its true that sometimes things are not as black and white as they may seem. You have until MIDNIGHT, Monday night to register your protest via PM. Stewards may ask for video evidence from both drivers or room captains to make any decision.

    SAVE YOUR REPLAY:
If the room host can ask all drivers to save their replay would be good before exiting the room.....once they exit out and the option goes, it cant be retrieved!

    PARKING UP:
If you are unable to continue to race, please enter the pits and leave your game paused without selecting tyres so that your car stays parked in the pits. Parking up off track activates yellow flags in the sector, and even though penalties are off, we have reports of penalties occurring for passes happening near the parked car. Quitting off track results in a sometimes race ending lag spike and may be punished in extreme scenarios.

    ATTENDANCE:
Could all drivers please inform Room Captains or make a post on the division thread if they do not intend on racing on Sunday night, Room Captains/ Lobby Hosts are advised not to wait for anyone who has not communicated their intentions. If you do not post in your room thread or psn chat that you cannot attend, a spot may not be held for you for the following weeks race.

TRACK SPECIFIC - Daytona Road Course
Wow we're finally back! It's been nearly two months since we went racing so I'm VERY excited to finally be here at Daytona!

A classic GT Endurance circuit, Daytona is a high speed, flowing mecca of American GT, boasting some challenging corners and plenty of overtaking opportunities. Rear tire wear will be important to manage over the race as the 2 stop rears its head as an option for those not so kind on their tires.

Please can everyone pay VERY CLOSE ATTENTION to the Rolling Start segment of the briefing! It is crucial to the success of the night that all divs get the Rolling start right.

excited for the rolling starts! i think itll be good fun and bring some more realism to these events!

To clarify. Can you overtake before the 'start/finish' line?

i.e. im P14. I notice P1 has accelerated but the field ahead of me are a bit slow to notice. Can i overtake before crossing the start finish line?

I think in F1 you have to cross the start/finish line before overtaking??

Yes! You will be allowed to overtake before the start finish line, however, if you're found to have done a bit of guessing work (planted the throttle before the leader has and gotten lucky), you'll likely be protested and served a tasty penalty.

Hi all, A follow up for our Rolling Start procedure.

The above photo depicts the area of which the start can first commence. Once a car is in line with the "Restart Zone" banner which can be seen in white on the grass, the pole sitter may choose to go at any point from there.

Clarification as well around the pole sitters desired starting side, can the room captain please ensure that this is put in the room chat prior to Race Start so that all drivers know which side evens and odds should go to.

Any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

So in VR, you dont have a speedo. But 130-150kph is just off the first green rpm light in 2nd gear

Well, thats a wrap for round 1..
Qually went well with no major faults, a touch off pace but my hope of getting a slip stream didnt work out, so a few tenths missing but ultimately started P2 behind a very fast, young new comer Tanq.

I enjoyed the formation lap, an additional sense of realism added to the immersity, and through our party chat, we were able to ensure we mostly adhered to the rules, on replay, some started slightly out of position, but i cant only assume that without VR, its difficult to see how far alongside you may be the your parallel starter, still, maybe some improvement so cars start slightly offset for visibility and clarity on starting position?

My race went well, getting past Tanq on the inside of T5 on race lap 1. From there i found some rythem but was constantly hard pressed by Herbie, with Tanq and the rest of the field not far away.
Herbie made his way past around lap 9-10, and pressed on. I held as close as i could, with hopes to get an earlier stop and undercut. At the end of L15, i made for the pits, fresh rubber and a sprinkle of fuel.
Herbie pitted a few laps later and came out just behind me, the margins were narrow!
Herbies pace and consistency had me, and made their way past with some added slip stream benefit.

On lap 27, the positions were looking clear, a fast Tanq, now in fuel mode 1 was making some ground.
On the exit of T3, like laps before, i feathered the throttle to get a balanced load on the rear, however, oddly at the time, and even more so on replay, my cars rear just span, putting me into the clutches of Hatfield and Matthyus, allowing Tanq through.

Final lap and Tanq took a spin in similar circumstances at T3, i was on the tail of Hat with Mathyus pressing, but i had warning lights and flashing beacons alerting to my incredibly low fuel status going wild! i tried to short shift, slip stream and at times, not breathe, ultimately running out of fuel 100m before the finish, allowing Matthyus through to claim my position.

An evening of Ifs and Buts, and maybe a bit more time in this car will improve my consistency. TC at 0 offers many rewards, but brings alot of danger.

    Onwards and upwards

I had a pretty average quali, between giving other cars a tow and making single errors each lap I couldn't reach the 1:32 I was hoping for. But come the race I was able to get in the zone early, get to 2nd and work on ADZA in front of me, this battle was alot of fun as I was trying to force an error out of him by faking overtakes and putting myself in his blind spots.

I was surprised to come back out of the pits behind ADZA but it just made the last half of my race more enjoyable to not only have to work to pass again, but keep him and the others slowly creeping behind me.

I think the fresh tires were worth a second per lap, and i think it was maybe 2 laps later you stopped so made sense i suppose.
You may have taken on a bit more fuel as i evidentally didnt take on enough ahaha

    What a race.
First time driving the beast of a car was this week and this car deserves practise..

I was reasonably happy with my qually in a decent 6th spot, still almost 1s off the pace.. @Tanqr7286 - way too fast mate.

The Rolling start is going to take some work to iron the kinks out, we generally stuck to the 150kp/h, however on the back straight we needed to really book it to catch up to get into 'formation'. As time goes on, I'm sure we'll get better at it. I kept the position in front of me (5th), their wheel in the corner of my screen (if that is where it needs to be???)

Anyhow, I lost a position on the start to @ReignOfF1R3_87 , but I was happy to lose a position early enough to enable me to settle down the nerves and get moving.
It didn't take long before the action started up front with an oddly slowish moving @Tanqr7286, who ended up behind me in 7th from pole.
After this was events by Nismonath and Reign at some points, moving Hat and I into 4/5th? With a fast catching Tanq behind me.
@Humblebeegee and @ADZA_85 were keeping to themselves, however their battling allowed the pack of Hat, Tanq and I to catch up, or at the very least not lose touch with that lead pack.

After the pits, at lap 15, the 2nd pack of Tanq and I came out pretty much on top of each other. Tanq just took off from here and I couldn't reel him in. Hat was a bit behind, but was now starting to learn the car and managed to reel me in.
With a few laps left, my controller went into sleep mode and I lost all sound. I use the controller for headphones... I frantically made it to the back straight where I could press the PS button again and rejoin the party and get sound back and not lose too much pace. But I lost enough that @Hatfield managed to swoop by. We are now 4/5th with Tanq in 3rd hunting down the lead pair of Herbie and Adza.
Adza must have lost the slip of Herbie and when Tanq caught up to him, Tanq managed to get past.

As mentioned above, Adza had a moment and Hat and I were all over him like a rash!!
Hat managed to sneak past, I managed to stick to the behind of Adza.

It was on the 2nd last lap that Tanq had his 1 and only accident, either dropping a tyre or the dreaded rear end spin at T3. Hat, Adza and I flew by.

I did my best to cling to Adza's rear end to ensure that I could use slipstream on the final straight and managed to do just that, although I have no idea how you managed such an awesome release from T6, but I aced the Chicane and was mere inches from your rear end waiting for the slip stream to kick in and kick in it did. Just prior to you running out of go fast juice.......Luckily, I had just begun to move out your slip when you ran out, otherwise I would have rammed you across the line...

Coming home in 3rd was 100% not expected in this room with these high quality racers. Super stoked to take the podium.

    Onwards to Tokyo..

    Congrats to @Humblebeegee , @Hatfield and ME :)

Practice, practice and then more practice is the key to this car. I have done heaps. It hasn't given me much pace but certainly consistency. I was 10th fastest on race lap time but the experience allowed me to go error free to keep the lead. Starting from the unexpected pole certainly helped too. I suspect staying up front will be difficult as other drivers gain experience with the car.
