Jono: Overcame a tough start and gambled on the rain coming by putting on another set of US, charging to the front. Mega pace in the rain saw him lead only one lap, the final one.
Motors: Did everything right in the race, and looked certain to win, even with some penalties until the rain came. Despite exiting the pits 5 seconds ahead, he was unable to hold off the pink car and settled for 2nd.
Knuckles: The polesitter struggled to replicate his pre race pace, but still managed to come home a solid third, surviving battles with Hatfield and Jono, making him one of 3 drivers to have been on the rostrum on 3 occasions this season.
Razor: The comeback drive of the season? Maybe, but you can’t help but be impressed at someone recovering to 4th after stopping early for repairs and only finishing 2 seconds off a podium despite an extra stop.
Benny: A reliable drive to take 5th but needed to find more pace to challenge the leaders. Don’t count out the champion yet though, there is still a long way to go.
Rhino: Another driver with front wing damage, he drove towards a 5th place with aplomb but carelessness with track limits saw him be demoted to 6th place in the end.
Nigel: Someone shout this guy a beer or 50, a disastrous bit of luck with lag during his first pit stop saw him drop from a fantastic 1st place and heading towards his first win to falling way down the field with a crippled car. An undeserving result of the highest order.
Hatfield: A terrific start was sullied by crashing into the back of Knuckles on lap 6. A move to soft tyres didn’t help along with his pit crew’s reluctance to repair the damage to the car. This was a golden opportunity wasted, but still took home the Div 2 win.
Fezza: Enjoyed life on his own to come home ninth, staying out of trouble on his way to picking up eighteen vital Div 2 points to leap further ahead.
Luckgoesmyway: It certainly did not this race, 4 pit stops killed any chances of staying on the lead lap and making inroads on the cars ahead.
