Hey guys, if anyone is wondering how to backup their PS3, there's a function in the system settings in the XMB menu of the PS3. Please note you will need: 1. An external usb hard disk (or USB Flash drive) large enough to cover the files on your ps3. to be safe, if you have a 40gb hdd in the ps3, get a 40gb or larger external drive. For example, at the moment you can get a 500gb usb drive for about 70 bucks. 2. The external drive cannot be larger than 500gb (it can, but you'll need to partition it down). 3. The external drive needs to be in FAT32 format. Now, points 1 and 2 are simple, however with point 3 - FAT32 is technically not supported in Windows 7. This can make it hard to format the drive to FAT32. There is a small downloadable tool which can help - this will format the drive in FAT32. http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm THe standard Windows 7 functions of NTFS and exFAT aren't compatible with the PS3. If you are running WinXP or (godforbid) something older, you should be able to run the standard format settings as FAT32 anyways. Hope this helps!!
