Supremely jealous that you’ve gotten to play this course!

Perhaps a rooz golf day is in order one day in the future… :)

I played there as well around 1990 NSW JNR champs. Had the ball blow off the Green as well. I remember hitting alot of greens that day and shooting something like 86 !

    Aussie Open
    Dec 16 - 22
Course: Wallaby Creek (In game name: Early’s Red Rocks (AG))
Difficulty: 9/10 - Huge distances, massive undulations, narrow fairways, deep rough, elevated greens and unique hazards all combine to create an immensely difficult challenge.
    Par: 72
    Rounds: 4

First introduced in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004, Wallaby Creek is a gorgeous fantasy course set in the Australian Outback, whilst somehow also incorporating the coastline of the Northern Territory. Uluru is also a backdrop on several holes on the Front 9. But don’t let the whimsical scenery fool you. It may have been easy to overpower this course on the 6th generation of consoles with a fully levelled up player, but on 2K21 it is a whole new beast. This course will force you to play conservative even on the longest Par 5’s. At 7,630 metres this is very likely one of the longest courses you’ll ever play. There is no let up in the difficulty as the coastline, the creek, natural rock formations and a gigantic desert crater will all act as hazards on every hole. While the desert heat keeps the surfaces hard and fast, once in a decade rainfall has softened the course, for the time being. Expect the course to become firmer, faster and more difficult as a result as the tournament progresses. This course will prove to be overwhelmingly difficult for the reckless player. As it should, for a course hosting a Major. Bring your A Game to become a Major champion.

    Wallaby Creek
    Hole 1: Par 4, 470m, HCP: 9
A drive of 260m on the right side of the fairway will give you the safest approach to all of the green’s pin locations with a long iron or hybrid. The coast will swallow any shots that don’t take the drop in elevation into account.

    Hole 2: Par 3, 208m, HCP: 13
This long downhill Par 3 offers a stunning view of the Timor Sea. Distance control is critical as the 3 tiered green makes putting treacherous. A massive bunker protects the green on the left while any shots long will be wet.

    Hole 3: Par 4, 457m, HCP 17
A slight draw off the tee at #3 should leave you with a mid iron to a slightly elevated green. Check your ball positioning on the approach shot as the fairway undulates in every direction. The green slopes off to the right with a small bunker protecting it to the right. Definitely go for birdie here.

    Hole 4: Par 4, 383m, HCP 11
The 4th offers the first glimpse of the giant crater Wallaby Creek is famous for. Find the fairway on this short Par 4 to give yourself an excellent chance at a birdie. Otherwise you may be blocked by a lonesome tree. Long tee shots will just have a wedge onto a narrow, elevated green protected by a steep slope on the left and a bunker to the back and right.

    Hole 5: Par 5, 585m, HCP 3
The 5th is a long, difficult Par 5 that commences the toughest stretch of holes on the course. The tee shot is brutally difficult with not much room to land on the fairway. Maximum distance on each shot is not the best play on this hole so take an iron on the second shot to set up a safe third approach to an isolated green that slopes toward the crater.

    Hole 6: Par 3, 204m, HCP 15
A fairway wood with a slight fade over the creek to an inviting green is the setting for this Par 3. Bunkers protect the green on all sides. Aim for the left of the green to ensure an easy 2 putt par. You don’t want to miss this green short, or you’ll be racking up strokes quicker than you can spell B-O-G-E-Y.

    Hole 7: Par 4, 462m, HCP 5
Probably the most difficult tee shot with driver on the golf course. It needs to be long and past the trees that protect the landing area some 200m from the tee. A good tee shot should leave you a mid iron into a green that is well protected by O.B on the left and rocks on the right. Birdie is an absolute steal here.

    Hole 8: Par 5, 652m, HCP 1
The longest and most unforgiving hole on the course. Keep your tee shot right to stop your ball from rolling into the thick rough on the left. If you end up in the rough off the tee you will need to play a very safe second shot as it is difficult to reach the top plateau. Your second shot should be played in between the tree and the bunker to leave a short iron approach. The crater surrounds the green so firing at the pin with anything other than a wedge in hand is suicidal. Play the hole slow and steady, and you might walk away with a birdie. If you don’t, you’ll tumble down the leaderboard.

    Hole 9: Par 4, 437m, HCP 7
The creek comes back into play on this medium length Par 4. Ignore the central fairway and blast your tee shot to leave a short iron into the smallest green on the course. Any ball that stops on the green should leave a very makable putt, but anything right will be wet. A tricky but manageable end to the Front 9.

    Hole 10: Par 4, 412m, HCP 14
Blast your tee shot up the middle to leave an easy approach shot on this dog leg right Par 4. Trees and bunkers will punish any errant tee shot. The landing area for the green is below you so you can afford to land it soft. Misjudge the distance though, and you’re in the water. This is a great birdie chance.

    Hole 11: Par 3, 150m, HCP 8
The creek at its most formidable. A short iron into this horseshoe shaped green needs to carry 140m to avoid landing in the water. Make sure you know where the wind is blowing. Accuracy is everything here, land it on the green and a birdie could be yours. Miss it short, and you’re hitting 3 off the tee.

    Hole 12: Par 4, 439m, HCP 18
Another narrow fairway, the 12th greatly rewards those who can blast it past the two giant bunkers perched on either side of the landing area. From there, a PW or 9 iron should be used to a deep green which slopes downhill all the way. Poor approach shots will be swallowed by 5 bunkers protecting this green.

    Hole 13: Par 5, 603m, HCP 16
Your course management skills will be put to the test on #13. Despite its length, a huge drive may not be the best option as the fairway slopes to the rough. Winding through the natural rock formations, the green is blind even on the second shot. Your third shot can be anything from a 3 wood to short iron into a pitifully narrow green protected by bunkers right, left and back.

    Hole 14: Par 4, 452m, HCP 12
What could have been an easy hole has been made difficult due to a rock smack bang in the middle of the fairway. If your tee shot finds the fairway, you’ll have an easy approach into this two tiered bowl shape green. If it doesn’t, you’ll have to lay up short of the green. A great birdie chance for those who play it smart off the tee.

    Hole 15, Par 4, 466m, HCP 2
A long Par 4 with trouble everywhere. Your tee shot must clear the creek and the pesky tree without rolling into the gaping bunker on the left. Even if you’ve found the fairway, you still have a long approach over the creek into a large green. A birdie here will be a real confidence booster into the final 3 holes.

    Hole 16, Par 3, 231m, HCP 6
The considerable length of this Par 3 makes the 16th the hardest Par 3 on the golf course. Land the ball on the green with a fairway wood and hope the backstop rolls the ball back towards the flag. Anything over the green is death, anything short leaves a difficult bunker shot. A par is a good score here.

    Hole 17, Par 4, 509m, HCP 10
Don’t let the massive yardage fool you, this hole plays much shorter than it looks. A wider fairway allows you to flex your muscles off the tee. A hybrid into this green will leave a putt that rolls severely toward the water.

    Hole 18, Par 5, 511m, HCP 4
The signature 18th hole combines all the challenges of the previous 17 holes into one amazing but tricky Par 5 that takes you back to the Timor Sea. Take a 3 wood off the tee for a shot to land in an expansive fairway protected by the natural rock formation and a lone bunker. A safe iron shot will leave another short iron into a green perched on a steep cliff. Aggressive players may opt to cut a significant amount of distance off the hole by driving it over the water. If you have the guts, make sure you hit it perfectly, because you will not like the results if you fail. A spectacular and gorgeous end to your round.

it was a solid strategy. go low in the benign rd1 conditions & then hold on for a sub par total... +5 will have to do for the tourny

Holes 7 and 8, can go s#@k it.
With that said, a conservative approach helped me not hit the stroke limit on both of these holes.
In Rd3, I was on for almost par (+1), when I got the yips on the last hole...
Let's hope I can bring home par in the final round..
