A lot has been said about my driving, and the implications are obvious, I've garnered a reputation that unfortunately lives up to my username. I want to clear things up, I don't intentionally wreck people, many of you have probably heard my reactions to being taken out myself and so I don't go out there to inflict that on other people. We all know I'm fast and we all know I'm prone to silly mistakes that drop me behind where I should be running. I think that in itself is half the problem, I spend so much time kicking myself over the small mistakes I made and the opportunities I threw away that the red mist comes over and I let my judgement cloud over. I've taken a step back and I'm changing my approach to how I race. It started with the F1 race last Thursday. I toned back my pace in the race and aimed for consistent laps, instead of getting wound up stuck behind people I actually found myself thoroughly enjoying the racing and I walked away with a solid result. Over the last couple of nights I've been attempting to translate this onto pCARS2. Yes I'll admit I still need a little more improvement as I still found myself going in that extra half a metre to deep and occasionally giving the slightest of taps. Nothing though on the scale of wiping people out of the race though with major contact. Over the last couple of night's I've had some close racing with a few guys and I've enjoyed it immensely. This is how I'll be approaching my racing from here on in, as we build up to the new season my racing will continue to improve, cleaner, more consistent, more enjoyable not only for myself but the guys I'm racing as the fear of being taken out can slowly be reserved back to a normal level while around me. I'm not asking for anyone to instantly forget all the crap I've done and caused, I know some guys will take a long long time to trust me again but all I'm saying is that you try to leave the crap at the start line and enjoy racing with me. Trust me in that I have the ability to keep it pinned to the inside without escorting you off. There's just one thing you need to do to help me out here, I know it seems to be instinct for some people now, but don't always assume the blame is on me. Sometimes, just sometimes people crash into me, not vice versa. I look forward to some clean racing on track and less, "Rhino's gonna take me out!! I don't wanna be near him on track"... Cheers Guys, Rhino
Thanks Rhino, the proof will be in how you perform over the next season, and after that. I guarantee, people have long memories, and yes, it will take time for you to gain trust again....Just a little advice from someone who has been around a little while ...... - not every corner is an opportunity to pass - if someone attempts to make legal pass on you give them room - finishing without contact (irrelevant of position) will give much better "racing' than trying to force your way through. - learning to cope with others legally defending you, even if you are faster, will define you as a racer I honestly hope what you have said above is a true reflection of your intentions. TBH things were wearing very thin to the point i was going to review your entry. You have many more seasons ahead of you 'if' you can get the small stuff sorted out. Will be watching closely, as will many others.
I like this season car definitely more fun on the hard tyres, more turn in and better feel, I had previously only driven on softs and didn't like it. Really easy to get good lap time out of it, almost impossible to spin. Good choice..
yeah, is very neutral so good 1st season car IMO.....am only just starting to get a feel for the brakes and turn in.....Did some laps again at Sugu and was 1.8 sec faster than last week....time is coming slowly...just need to get more track time...I have also been very conservative with taking curbs, which is costing me a heap of time.... When i release the track list on meet and greet will give everyone heaps of time to experiment with track limits..... ^^ This.....Sugo was the same @vards.... for some reason on the softs there i was much slower and the car wouldnt go around the last turn flat as i could on the Hards.....Very weird....good news is that with the tyre options wont be an option....will try again tonight on the meds and look a bit more at wear rates..... Is a LOT of very good tracks that suit this car.....did a list last night and came up with 16 !! Will look to blend some new and old to give some great racing.... I also think will have to look at penalties for contact and how we can turn them off.....too many guys getting penalties for contact not their fault....we can manage that in the penalty process for contact as per rules and regs Would highly recommend everyone sus out the pit entry / pitstop process in some prac races....map a 'request pitstop' button, or you can do it through the menus while driving. Might be a great way to be able to have some 'random weather' races at some point.
now now...... yeah, not sure...will look at it tonight maybe....mine stayed in the green pretty well and the temps were in the mid 90*s. doesnt make a lot of sense
Starting to come to terms with the game a little more and was taking time off my pb every lap around Watkins Glen. This car is not too bad at all.
Well said Rhino, takes a lot for a young bloke to realise he is in the wrong and even more to admit it publicly as you have. Shows a level of maturity beyond your years that most your age would not do. Well done mate.
+1 to this bloke, he drove a brilliant race in last week’s Chinese GP under enormous pressure, holding off a faster car for many laps to take his first Top 5, and honestly if you maintain the mentality you took into that race, you’ll only get better and better!
looks like now when we say "if you mess with the @RHINO11 , you'll get the horns" By horns we mean 'consistent, fast lap times and clean respectful racing'
