Excuse my noob question, and Clevohead half explained it to me, but what is the official line on divisional changes due to championship finishing positions?
i know it as top2 up/bottom2 down a division, but i saw somewhere else it was written the same, but with top3/ bottom3, so something like that
Loosely speaking, the policy was always 2 up, 2 down, but it depends heavily on how many people sign up/drop out. If 5 guys disappear from div 2 and 2 move up to div 1, then you can bet that more than 3 from div 3 will move up.
Barra has nailed it. Also we've not always had the same number of divisions season to season, so any notions of a set number up and down go out the window on those occasions. Some seasons have been 6 divisions, others only 3, and now we're back up to four. You can see this from the GTLOZ HoF.
Ideally as others have said it would be 2up and 2 down. To be honest there's so many factors that come into it we kinda dropped that way of thinking as the official line because the mods have to use a bit of common sense in weighing up the drivers ability and the way the season panned out as well.
