Anyone else having problems with joining lounges in gt5? I keep getting either "Server not found" or some other error that quotes the error number 222.
couldnt be bothered making a new thread for this but does anyone know what sort of upload sppeds we should be getting to adequeately host a 16 man race? stumbles what speeds are you on? upload speeds would be more importnatn here i would think. im currently getting 1.0mbps so im prety good to host i would think. if your not sure you can check on speedtest but i would think hosts would want 700kb/s at least upload speeds
When I last did a connection test from the network settings on the PS3 dashboard, my upload (real) was 867Kb/s. My ISP plan gets me 16Mb/s down and 1Mb/s up (theoretical). Just did this test. For a full room, you'll need around this, as the GT race last week was only just usable. SHould be better if we disable the voice chat though.
Hey stumbles, with the voice chat turned off it should make a difference as your upload speed is quite good. super gt wasnt unplayable either. youll also most likely have a couple of no shows so that will mean it should be fine
Couldn't log on to the psn on Thursday night after installing the latest update, but ok since. Edit: Dropped out for the first time this morning while practicing with seido due to my daughter installing and using Skype. She has been banned from using it while i'm racing. I told her with my serious face.
spoke to a few guys who host 16 man lobbys on GTP consesnus is. 1.disable voice chat 2.CLEAR YOUR CACHE. They report no real issues if your upload speed is fine
Ok carn will disable voice chat for the race tomorrow. How do you clear the cache on a ps3??? Edit: google gave me the answer http://community.us.playstation.com/thr ... 0&tstart=0
might be a good idea to get those of us with decent connections or those who believe they have good ish connections to post their upload speeds up for all to see, Ps. those lucky people running on new NBN testing areas or cable on docsis 2.0 (telstra ulitmate cable VIC) will have the best connections for hosting (theoretical upload of 25mbps ++). Followed by those of us on Annex M enabled Adsl2+ (upto 3mbps upload), then 2+ normal users (upto 968kbps). If we have upload of above 1.5mbps we shouldn't have any dramas running voip with 16 users, (will need to test first of course) of the races I've been in so far with you guys I haven't really noticed that many ping rate issues mind you voice has been disabled in those rooms which has helped stabilise the connection. pps. I used to work for an ISP so do have some know how with regards to this stuff..... My connection seems to be running balls at the mo', I'll check again once I've updated the line attenuation to a better speed profile.... yeah I know I'm a nerd.... so what?
Good idea Tanks. Are you on Annex M (lucky bugga)?? If you've got that much upload, I'd be more than willing to let you host the room. I hate having voice disabled... So frustrating trying to type stuff to let everyone know whats happening (especially with Overdrivve having his connection issues)... I only managed about 4 laps for qualifying because I had to keep stopping to type stuff. Easier to remind people about the false start situation too.. Although, I did say it (type it) twice and a warning comes up on the screen as the track loads. Looking forward to seeing your stats.
yeah im easy, i had 12 in my room last night with the voice chat off and it was smooth as.. i dont see any issue having it off if we have a full room, then again if if your confident your connection is that good even better.
