I'm seeing quite a few people(from other divisions) running wide at turns 2 and 3. IMO this is gaining an advantage, please be careful in the race
@Mustafur well done on the round win tonight. Solid battle with Speedy in race 1. Was fun to watch. Was trying to join you guys but lost too much in traffic early on from poor quali pace.
1st race went really good, my Lan cable disconnected at the start of Qual which had be panic a bit, but I got back in the room and was able to set my PB. Speedy and Monstars laps where a bit too fast for me, in the race it seemed everyone was being a bit cautious so I felt this was my best chance to get overtakes and was able to slowly get my way to the lead. From there I was defending as It was too hard to escape from Speedy, He got past me after T3 when I made a mistake but I got him back a lap or two later at T1, it was high pressure stuff and good racing. In Race 2 I was just going to take it a bit easier because I knew having won the full points race that I didn't need to do much to get the round win, the race felt much faster as it was less stressful then the 1st as I was able to get some good passes in and almost got @MONSTAR at the line but got a solid 4th.

Round 4: Red Bull Ring Short - 47 Laps - 16:15 - 16/8 WELCOME to Season 12!! As always please take 2 mins to read the following so you have an understanding of what is expected on race night......If you have any questions, or want clarification on any of the rules or regulations please ask! ROOM OPEN : Most room captains will 'try' to have rooms open by about 7:50 AEST. Please be on time, or let the room captain or div thread if you may be late. If all agree, the room may wait for you, Within reason. Please remember we have drivers from NZ, and later starts mean a much later night for them. QUALIFYING : 8:20 AEST for 10 mins. If a driver joins while qualifying mode is active, room captains will need to grab a quick photo of qualifying results, cancel the race and then set grid by host. In practice mode, once 10 mins has been reached, finish the lap you are on and park up off track. During qualifying PITS ARE CLOSED RACE START TIME : 8:30 AEST (once qualifying has finished) LAG ISSUES / ROOM RESTARTS : This is up to the room host/captains. If there is a Disconnection (or cars stuck on grid) at race start, it is sporting to try to get them back in, which may mean a new room to be set up. I always look at 1 or 2 starts if required due to DSC, but as it gets later everyone needs to be aware of getting things going. Please be as reasonable as you can with this.... SIGHT ISSUES: Ensure that you can see everyone on track. Before qualifying, exit to lobby and spend 30 seconds in spectate mode, scroll through the list of drivers on track and make sure that you can see their car. If you can't see somebody (and they are confirmed as being on track), exit the lobby, re-join, and check again. FALSE START CHECK : Please note that the start type is Grid Start with False Start Check Please practice this so you know what to expect. Simply, you hold the brakes on until the lights go from all lit, to none lit TURN 1 LAP 1 : This has the potential to ruin someones night if we don't use our heads! Should be everyone's goal to get through the first phase with ZERO contact. Give room and run in your 'lane' till you have space to run the normal race line. If your unassisted tap causes someone to spin, you need to redress. TRACK LIMITS : As we are running with 'track limit penalties" OFF, we will run with our usual Raceonoz track limit regulations. This means you MUST have at least 2 wheels on the ripple strip OR white line that defines the track limit. If you do make a mistake and have to run outside the limits, be aware that you are not allowed to gain any advantage. Turns to watch out for are, wide entry, cutting and running wide at T1, wide entry and running wide at T5, and cutting and running wide at T6 CONTACT : Is to be avoided at all times..... If you rear end someone and gain an advantage, YOU ARE EXPECTED to give the spot back. Side by side 'rubbing' is racing, within reason, but all drivers are expected to give racing room. If you bump someone and they end up off track or teleport back to the corner entry, you must wait for them to rejoin and get back up to speed. Show each other RESPECT! It is difficult enough to drive the car at the limit on your own, without someone squeezing you within a millimeter of the grass. So be patient and show respect to your fellow drivers. If you are redressing contact, please do so out of the way of other cars, off the racing line, or if there isn't much room, off track. TYRES : Sports Mediums (mandatory) & Sports Softs PIT ENTRY : Please make an attempt to use the pit entry / exit lines. Failure to do so, where an incident/impede is caused, will have consequences PIT EXIT : Please use the pit exit lane and be aware of cars approaching out of T1. NOTE: Pitting is NOT COMPULSORY BLUE FLAGS : Please observe blue flags, and move out of the way of faster cars if you are being lapped. Failure to observe blue flags WILL result in a penalty STEWARDS GROUP AND RACE PROTESTS : This season the stewards will be will be @JonoStan96 @Viperzed & @emmo46. If you have reason to protest, please SAVE YOUR REPLAY, and then let them know via a PM. DO NOT BLOW UP IN THE FORUM OR IN THE ROOM CHAT. There have been multiple incidents where the replays from drivers have been different, so its true that sometimes things are not as black and white as they may seem. You have until MIDNIGHT, Monday night to register your protest via PM. Stewards will ask for video evidence from both drivers or room captain to make any decision. SAVE YOUR REPLAY : If the room host can ask all drivers to save their replay would be good before exiting the room.....once they exit out and the option goes, it cant be retrieved! PARKING UP : If you are unable to continue to race, please enter the pits and leave your game paused without selecting tyres (or no tyres) so that your car stays parked in the pits. Parking up off track activates yellow flags in the sector, and even though penalties are off, we have reports of penalties occurring for passes happening near the parked car. FINAL NOTE: Could all drivers please confirm their attendance for this Sunday by 'liking' this post in your division. If you are unable to attend, please post in reply as much in your division. This way we can figure out our reserves or if the room can start early in advance. (ALSO IF YOU KNOW YOU CANNOT ATTEND, PLEASE POST SAYING SO, SO THAT RESERVES CAN BE ORGANISED IN ADVANCE)
Might be a good idea to maybe to use the indicator when entering the pits if you have someone really close behind as I accidentally hit MONSTAR-1 during practice earlier. Sorry buddy!
Fun race. Nice strategic battle with Mustafur. Didn't expect to win here. Wasn't confident with car balance all week. Very challenging combination to manage all race. Wet race might have been easier! Really puzzled by this though... Fubbles, please explain?! https://clips.twitch.tv/InterestingJollyEyeballPogChamp
it might have been that it shows the tyres you put on before the fuel starts going in I believe I noticed it last night that when someone pits, it first shows the tyres they are on, then changes to the compound they change to, then the fuel part happens
I came in on the soft tyre, did a lap on the medium then pitted again for the soft tyre. I instantly realised that I'd made a mistake because I had to pit again to refuel. My brain wasn't in gear and I bamboozled myself. I wanted to get into clean air but I didn't have a pace advantage to make it work. My left shoulder was stuffed from the constant turning and chronic understeer, so even if I did 2 stops, I wouldn't have finished higher than 8th. The MX-5 is soo poorly balanced for the short tracks that I simply cannot manage the pace and find myself in a world of pain. If I'd known how hard it was I would've voted for longer tracks rather than ones with a sub-1:00 minute lap time. I drove a BMW M3 E46 before the race last night and I gotta say, it handles far better despite weighing 700 KG more. The chassis, the balance, the tune and the sharpness put the Mazda to shame. To be honest, the MX-5 is horrible to drive with a dull front end and a picky rear that struggles to hold a slide. It becomes a chore and when you have a chronic illness, it can get frustrating. Next time we vote for a car, I'm putting up the E46. Thankfully, we aren't doing any more short tracks this season so if I get my act together and make the right strategy call, I could get some decent results. I'll never pit early again.
Boys, sorry but I won't be competing any further this season. Not enjoying the car or my racing at the moment and got a bit on so I'd rather spend my spare time with the family
Qual went really well again with another PB in qualifying on my last lap. Probably should of worked out a strategy before going into the race, I had the lead for the first stint and was trying to save fuel where I could but didn't realise how much time can be saved by saving as much as possible, the battle was good for the first half when I did my useless lap to Mediums and then back to Softs(Two tyre rule is completely pointless unless you force 1 stint max on softs). With fuel I lost about 3-4 seconds to Mez filling up alot more fuel, and with older tyres it was a losing battle by that point, I made a few errors afterward but I don't think I could of made up that much time anyway, good Strategy by Mez to win this one.
@Mustafur . Thanks mate. It's tight at the top. Enjoying our little championship battle. Fun and fair racing last night. Pace was intense. You were much quicker than I was initially comfortable doing. Managing the front left all race was tough at that pace.
