I think its been challenging for others that ive seen be quick and at times quicker then me. Qually from what i can tell in replays and with timing has likely hindered some better performances. Ive enjoyed this car and seen others struggle with it. Im sure we will see some pace from everyone in this room at Bathurst. Im looking forward to that one
This car is the only one I can recall where I have not had a tyre life advantage. I am using tyres as bad as anyone and my early race pace falls away dramatically as the understeer creeps in. Needless to say I dislike this car and am weighing up whether or not I will be bothered wrestling with it for 46 laps at Bathurst.
Qualified second thanks to a good tow from Incey, much appreciated. Had an average start dropped a couple places to a couple people who were not willing to yield, so I did. Followed the 2nd and 3rd place guys closely for 7 laps. Saw the first big hairpin was going to be an incident ahead, or potential. Held back to watch what would happen, Incident ended up being me from someone from way behind. Dropped to 7 or 8. or 9 From there there was the chance of still doing the Steven Bradbury. Found pace and caught up. A few others in front found the wall at 90 degrees further on and I got to 7. Changed to mediums then remembered that the car rotates better with brake balance changed, Forgot that I had been practicing the whole time on this track with brake balance at 0. Got the wobbles, lost a position, gained it back later. Last few laps lapse in concentration got me on the hairpin before the tunnel inside nature strip. Wall on outside saw me closing, Lost position. Long story/short. I am happy I can compete and not be a number. Even without the incident, the mistakes I had in race due to lapses in concentration, I dare say I would have still ended up where I were. Sort of glad I could put the nerves away after a few set backs and had the finish line been another 20 or 30 metres up the straight I might have got Beats. Really a race of what ifs and makes for a good story as I keep going over the replays.
Based on your race times you'll be competitive in Div 1B, if you want to have a crack there for either of the last 2 rounds?
Im likely destined that way for next season. Id like to see out Div 2 and would hate to get in the way of those battling in Div 1B late into this season. Their are some gents in this Div that are deserving and worthy a win.
No rain. I have also done 3 custom races at that setting and no rain either. That's 4 race length practice runs and in all of them I have had a spin or understeered off track. I hope I can master it by Sunday.
