I'd recommend the Fanatec DD Pro - The missus got it for about $1200.

Clubsport DD PRO might be a good option too if you can wait

I don't think they make the DD1 with PS compatibility anymore, the new Clubsport DD+ at 15nm looks like a nice option now, probably looking around $2.5k by the time you add a wheel and pedals ... and then upgrade the rig to deal with 15nm haha

Yeah I think they're clearing them out! I haven't even plugged in the "high torque mode" thing on mine yet and it's plenty powerful.

Their sire is showing it as discontinued and sold out.

Maybe contact Gamesmen and look at the Logitech DD? Supposed to be quite good, and Logitech generally have halfway decent after sales support.

Nope, I don't really notice any play in my wheel(same as yours) but I am curious to see if the QR2 makes any difference. It's $510 to find out :cautious:

I'm going to wait for reviews on the DD+ to see what they say about the comparison to the DD1. Reading some stuff on Facebook they reckon Fanatec said the new software on the DD+ won't work on the DD1 so possibly the DD+ will be some upgrade even with the slightly lower peak torque. I'd assume if that talk is true then there's probably a new Podium range coming too which I'll probably wait for. Then I'll only have to buy the wheel half of the QR2 :roflmao:

DD+ higher slew rate than DD1 I've heard so likely an upgrade from that, and QR2 built in. Podium rally hub looks nice too. What Fanatec really need next are some Podium pedals to compete with the likes of Asetek, Simagic, Heusinkveld etc

    OK, so first impressions.
Install was a piece of piss. There is a video online to assist, but didn't need it.
Call me crazy, but it really does feel different, in a good way.
I seem to have even more feel through the wheel and it seems to respond better to my inputs.
It's hard to explain, but it feels like a circle that used to be 360 degrees now has 720 degrees, even though it's the same size.
Does that make sense? It feels like there are more increments measuring your inputs.
Probably not $510 worth of improvement, but definitely an improvement.
Also much easier to use the quick release function, both for on and off.

Sounds like hifi, lots of $$$$ for a very incremental improvement.

You're estimate of around $2.5k was pretty close! Can't wait for this to arrive! :)

I just bought this today, damn Fanatec sending me emails about their black Friday sales

Have just upgraded my rig to the TR160(and adding triple screens) so figured I may as well try and remove any remaining weak points for flexing

Fanatec GT7 DD Pro users, how have you mounted your wheel base, horizontal (so that the wheel is vertical) or at a slight angle?
I had my G29 mounted so that the wheel was at ~71deg from the horizontal (or ~19deg from vertical) and am looking to replicate that, which means mounting the wheel base down at ~19deg.

Angle would depend on seating position. You want the shaft roughly pointing at your neck / shoulders so formula seating would be close to no angle (or 90 degrees from vertical depending on your reference) while upright GT style seating you would want some angle

Yes pretty much what @UrsineSaturn9 said. I have it slightly angled up and my seat is slightly reclined more than a GT would be. I guess whatever is more comfortable for you and if you can do it with your rig.
Also save up for the load cell, trust me.

Still waiting, but at least Fanatec have the Sony licence now, so hoping not too much longer
