Don't worry mate, after adding all the mods except for turbo and NOS all you need to do is up the gearbox top speed to 230 km/h and you're set to go. I played around with tweaking a few things last night (including running a fully adj suspension setup) and I was actually faster in stock form with the hard suspension. I'm sure if you tweaked it just right there's probably more time out there to find but I think the biggest factor will be staying on the optimum line and hitting your markers right around the track - especially at the top of the mount on the way back down through skyline etc... Oh, and don't forget to put racing brakes on your mini. Without them you'll have a hard time staying out of the sand at the end of conrod! I'm hoping to do some more practice on Sat as well so if Jamie can't make it look out for my practice room.
Sorry to bail unexpectedly last night. I try to give the missus 2 hrs of much needed sleep between 10-12 and look after bub then. Last night he decided to wake up early and wouldn't go back to sleep so that gave me no more chance to practice. Shouldn't be a problem hosting on Sunday as it's fairly early. I think I'll be running in my usual position of last as my fastest time so far has only been a 2.39 flat...
I was struggling to break beyond the 2.40's last night until I decided to push a little harder through Skyline (using less brakes) and then using more brakes at Forests Elbow (I had been hitting this turn too hot, heating up the FR and wasting time sliding around the turn). I found by braking just that little bit more I could get around the elbow easier and then gain a better/faster exit. Not long after I managed to find myself in the 37's & 38's. I'm still way off the 35's though....but I'll keep working on it
In my opinion nailing forest elbow isn't that important for a good lap time. In my opinion the most important corner is the cutting followed closely by Griffins bend.
Can't believe I have only just seen this! Any chance of being a reserve in case of a last minute no show? Please please please!!??
I can put you in reserve mate but those that have done some miles testing these little beauties will not give up their spot easy. Read through the thread to check what you need to do to your mini, and keep an eye here for any last minute withdrawals.
ATM the room will be full with 1 in reserve so far. Buy the car and tune it as per the previous tuning post in this thread and as I said to jim just keep an eye on the thread for drop outs. Jim has first dibs of course.
Could happen. I would like to keep you with us in room 1 though lol. We'll see how we go. However it goes, room 1 will have 16 runners.
I will have to change my status to casual racer for this and a few other series. Bub hasn't been playing nice lately and I need to let the missus rest up. It's hard to commit if I can't find the time to jump on, or even stay on for any lengthy stint with the way he is going. Would be a good idea to get pat to host as well.
