Anyone got a dummy's guide to how the new qualifying will work?

Tbh I don't see the point of the elimination in Q3, it's seems like a complete waste of time.

Bring back the 12 lap one hour session I say.

nah they should do 4x10min races with 1 lap qually for the first and reverse grid there after. Also the winner should drop 5hp to even up the grid.

not sure what to do about dsc

Qually has now reverted back to 2015 style. 3 sessions no timer. standard knockout format after each round.

With China this weekend (race sunday 5pm AEST) and Hamilton suffering a 5place grid penalty for a gearbox change it could be up to Vettel to capitalise on a weak Merc off the line.
Hope Danny boy can bring home some silver ware but China has a massive back straight which favours the big engine boys

I'd like to see Ferrari run the Soft tyre in Q2. They're quick enough to make Q3 without resorting to Super Soft which means they'll be able to start the race on the Soft tyre, which will be a better race tyre. Super Soft will be terrible for durability in China...good opportunity to outwit Mercedes I reckon.

The thing that has surprised me most about quali this year is the way some of the midfield drivers have opted to be knocked out at the end of Q2, rather than make it into the bottom half of Q3. It's actually quite a clever idea and it has worked to great success for Romian Grojean at Bahrain who was actually cheering himself on to be knocked out so that he would start only a row further back than those in Q3, but have free choice of tyres. Wonder if its worth Red Bull who have never had amazing success at China to give this tactic a go so they can have free choice of tyres for Sunday.

With the change back to 2015 qual, you should be able to do 2 runs in Q2 so could go out on softs and if it does not look like you will make Q3 bolt on some super softs.

The return to 2015 rules mean from 10 down can choose race tyres, whereas for Aus and Bahrain it was 8 down, will be interesting to see if drivers/teams thinks starting an extra two places back and getting choice of tyre is better than getting into Q3 and no choice of tyre.

great qual from Ric, think he will get eaten today in the race, have heard the RB is pretty good on its tires though and he is a smart steerer.....hopefully a bit of rain during the race helps him jag a podium.....

    For live streaming:
Download and install AceStream, it's like an add-on to VLC media player but is a standalone package with p2p live-streaming capabilities: http://info.acestream.org/#/install
You can usually find 'Stream IDs' for F1 in the race threads of https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/
Although I haven't tried it, there's also an official Android app so you could watch directly on your tablet/phone.

I've never actually watched a full Russian GP yet...maybe I will this weekend!
Will it be an all-Merc demo run again?

Hopefully not, the Red Bull is getting faster race by race and as is the Ferrari. But still the Merc's will be too strong so I'm hoping Nico can take another victory.
