Good mate! Move into my new place in a couple of weeks with a proper man cave!
GT7 has been really good for ROOZ I reckon. Seems to have brought some of us old fellas back and a lot of new blood.

    SEASON 8 QUALIFYING NIGHT
    -Alsace - Village
    -Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit
-Autodrome Lago Maggiore - East End
15 min Qualifying Sessions - All Preset Weather S01, Afternoon, Equal Conditions On
0x Tire Wear, All other settings same as listed in OP

WELCOME to Season 8 for Gran Turismo 7!!
As always please take a couple minutes to read the following so you have an understanding of what is expected on race night.
If you have any questions, or want clarification on any of the rules or regulations please ask!

    ROOM OPEN:
Room captains may have practice rooms open beforehand but should have the official room up by 7:30pm AEDT. Please be on time, or let the room captain or div thread know if you may be late. If all agree, the room may wait for you, Within reason. Please remember we have drivers from NZ, and later starts mean a much later night for them.

    SIGHT ISSUES:
Before qualifying, exit to lobby and spend 30 seconds in spectate mode, scroll through the list of drivers on track and make sure that you can see their car. If you can't see somebody (and they are confirmed as being on track), exit the lobby, re-join, and check again. Type the number of cars you can see in the lobby chat and cross check with other drivers to ensure clarity.

    QUALIFYING : 8pm AEDT for 15 mins.
Feel free to run practice laps prior to qualifying, The host will trigger a 'Room Reset' closer to the commencement of Qualifying.

    PITS ARE OPEN DURING QUALIFYING

    LAG ISSUES / ROOM RESTARTS:
This is up to the room host/captains. If there is a Disconnection during the session, it is advised for the Host/Captain to wait for that driver before commencing the next event. Please be as reasonable as you can with this. If the driver does not wish to return or is unable, if they could please let the PSN chat know at nearest convenience, it would be greatly appreciated.

    TRACK LIMITS:
As we are running with 'track limit penalties" OFF, we will run with our usual Raceonoz track limit regulations. This means you MUST have at least 2 wheels on the ripple strip OR white line that defines the track limit. If you do make a mistake and have to run outside the limits, be aware that you are not allowed to gain any advantage, position or time wise.

Track Limits will not be monitored tonight due to the session settings. Please follow RaceOnOz track limit rules to ensure a fair and even chance amongst everybody while setting your laps.

    CONTACT:
Is to be avoided at all times..... I'm not even going to warrant this section with a full paragraph. Do not hit eachother. If I have to be contacted about people making contact in a qualifying session I won't hesitate to hand out penalties for the season. That also goes for bump drafting which is STRICTLY PROHIBITED TONIGHT.

    PIT ENTRY/EXIT LINES:
Pit Line Penalties are ON so you will be penalised in game if you cut any part of the entry or exit lines. Be mindful entering the pits that you will need to commit to coming in not long after the final corner. You may receive a penalty for misjudging your line on entry. Be mindful not to impede other cars on your way in. On pit exit, cars exiting the lane are reminded to keep drivers right if there are any cars approaching, you will have to give them space.

    BLUE FLAGS:
There will be no Blue Flags in use tonight so please use your mirrors and be aware of cars around you. You are not obliged to move out of the way for anyone if you are on a hot lap, but please if you are not on a hot lap, be courteous and respectful to those who may be on a hot lap.

    STEWARDS GROUP AND RACE PROTESTS:
This season, the Head Steward will be @Viperzed. There will be no official protests for the qualifying round however if you believe an incident needs to be addressed, don't be afraid to teach out and ask the question.
DO NOT BLOW UP IN THE FORUM OR IN THE ROOM CHAT. There have been multiple incidents where the replays from drivers have been different, so its true that sometimes things are not as black and white as they may seem.

    PARKING UP:
If you are unable to continue for any reason, please either enter the pits manually or warp to pits via the Options menu. Parking up off track activates yellow flags in the sector, and even though penalties are off, we have reports of penalties occurring for passes happening near the parked car. Please make sure you screenshot your session best times PRIOR to leaving the track.

    ATTENDANCE:
Could all drivers please inform Room Captains or make a post on the division thread if they do not intend on attending tonight. Room Captains/ Lobby Hosts are advised not to wait for anyone who has not communicated their intentions. If you do not post in your room thread or psn chat that you cannot attend, a spot may not be held for you for the following week's event.

    Qualifying Specific
Each circuit will have a short practice session followed by a 15 min qualifying session in which lap times and optimal lap times will be monitored in order to ensure our divisions are as close as possible! In order to do this, Drivers are to screenshot their Session Best tab in the HUD to record their best lap time as well as optimal lap time. These times can then be sent to the Division PSN chat where they will be recorded by admin and used to finalise our divisions.

For this reason, drivers are advised to avoid slipstream where possible as it will unfairly lower your optimal lap time and potentially increase your risk of being put in a division that does not match your ability in this car.

I will add as well, We know neither this system or our old one are pefect. Mistakes will be made, we are only human! If you feel you are placed in the wrong division and will be better suited in a higher or lower div, please say so and we will take your input into consideration. Divs will not be final until next weekend so there is time to change around.

Is it just me, or do the tires over heat on this Porsche. I found even as fuel loads came down it was never any better, and the understeer increased.

I tried a few cool down laps to see if there was any change but no difference.

Consistency in this car will hurt people i feel. Some good times from everyone but i seen alot of barrier hits lol

Even with Tyre wear off, tyre temps still matter to the GT7 physics model.
Kireth Kart did video on this topic in his YouTube channel using one of those telemetry apps and the weekly time trial event as an example. He showed that the best times in the world are where the driver is able to keep the tyres in an ideal temp range, not allowing them to over heat nor cool down.
Having said that, once we get into the rounds proper, tyre wear will be on so tyre temps will matter and it will be easy to overheat them, even at 1x tyre wear.
Other YouTubers have noted that GT in most versions has an unusual weight transfer model compared to other sims and that it overly affects the handling model. Personally I'm finding that I'm making micro braking inputs to reduce the understeer and a lot more throttle balance.

I was literally backing the car into the downhill right hander on Lake Maggiore almost every lap :roflmao:
Braking is hugely important in this car.

Yeah, brak8nng and turning is not this cars strong point at all. Very hard for trail brakers.

i don't find it too difficult to trail brake (Fanatec pedals and load cell). I just find the tires fade from overheating (different to wear).

i forgot to save replays but i bet they look when on the edge. Will be some exciting racing.

I'm having the opposite, little tyre wear but F all grip. If I push harder to warm the tyres it just lets go and skids across the track like on ice. My gentle touch doesn't seem to work on GT7 like it did in GTSport.

I'm the opposite, being quite aggressive with inputs working to keep the weight where I need it (front end loaded on turn in etc), that's being done on a comtroller though lol

I am still learning the car but find it does respond better to a more aggressive driving style, but too much and you'll find yourself drifting alot of banked corners unnecessarily and overheating the tyres like I was last night. Felt like I was in Tokyo drift come the East End session.
