2020 seems so far away, yet will be here before we know it. If you’re in that race, I’ll be there. It’s getting to be about time I started attending Bathurst events.
Went to Le Mans Go Karts in Dandedong South tonight, was awesome fun. Had 2 sessions on their "Pheonix" track, and got the 2nd fastest time of the day in my 2nd session. 37.934. 3 tenths slower than the fastest of the day. Makes me REALLY want a go kart, especially when you do an awesome undertake on the 2nd fastest driver in the session (who i beat by 3 seconds)
Did a rough calculation on an average of 20 laps or 10mins a day and the time I've worked there it would be about 9000 laps
Absolutely rubbish day on the Go Kart track in the Canberra 6hr. Started off well enough. I did the first stint and put in consistent laps (off the pace as usual, but consistent). Got called in for a driver change and literally within 3 laps, our Karts nowhere to be seen. Snapped a king pin bolt in th front right stun axle. In a high speed part of the track too, so buried in the sand. Got it back to our work area, sources another king pin bolt kit, repaired it up and sent it back out. Went well for a while before the old man got cleaned up and knocked a clutch loose. Again, repaired it and I got back in for my second stint, and it ended with another snapped king pin bolt. Same one. Luckily for me it was on a slow part of the track, and the bolt actually stayed partially in its spot, so I was able to limp the kart back to the pits basically on 3 wheels. And that was where our day ended. Not worth risking repairing it again and having it snap again in a dangerous fashion. Our first DNF.
@Jurassic Mark that sucks mate. @Bryan_F and I went to hi voltage karts this afternoon and had a blast! Those electric karts are so torquey!
Top notch venue and karts. Great work @groover33. It's a bit of a shame we missed you on your day off.
Race weekend again (finally), this time I'm off too the best and most exciting track of all time.... Queensland Raceway (jks) If you are in the area be sure too come out and have a look, plenty of grass roots motorsport. We will have 36 excels competing this weekend, so sure to be action all up and down the grid.
What a weekend, went into qualifying thinking i would need to do a high 1:31 to even crack the top ten managed to put down a 1:32.3 on my last lap to get myself into 2nd position out of 40 cars. Race one was very eventful after only 1 lap had been completed the race got red flagged as Liam who I had been bantering back and forth with since buying my car 12 months ago about racing together in real life and not just the simulator, had been involved in a major crash. so we never really got too race together. Ended up holding off the angry pack behind me to finish 4th and bag some much needed rookie points. race 2 i would learn what is was like to get hung out to dry on the outside for a race start at Queensland Raceway, fell back too 11th place. Race 3 i managed to get as high as about 6th after a ripper start, before getting involved in some big battle groups and fell back down the order were i would finish 10th. Race 4 is where i learn't a lot about how to be fast, consistent and look after the tires to have the speed towards the end of the race. Managed to get a good start, had really fast guys behind me due to issues then had in race 3, they took off down the road, this is when i put my head down started doing consistent fast laps very close to my qually time. caught the back of a battle pack after being 5 seconds behind. Was trying to make a move to get myself 10th position, but due to coming in a little hot and a slight bit of turn in understeer, I just clipped the car in front right rear bumper and unsettled his car and caused his car to get sideways and make contact with another car. Crossed the line in 11th position but due to this contact I got a penalty and fell back to 18th. All in all it was a very good round, learn't a lot, banked some much needed points after not getting many in round 1 and have found some pace, looking forward to moving up in the RACEONOZ excel. Thanks too Precision Steering & Suspension for their wheel alignment work, Hi-Tec Oils Pty Ltd and Dad and the rest of my family coming to watch. All in all it was a very good round, learn't a lot, banked some much needed points after not getting many in round 1 and have found some pace, looking forward to the next round at Lakeside. Hope too see you back out on track as soon as possible Liam Jensen
Sadly I wasn't driving this oversized AWD go-kart that goes from 1-100 in 2.7 sec's, but it is unreal. I'll put together some footage of the rest of us driving much less quick at a later date.
my newest race car. Just getting it race ready last thing we did was tune it. Pretty healthy for a fairly standard 6cylinder with a cam change and e85.
Racing again this weekend, back at Lakeside, be sure to comeout and have a look 30+ excels so far have entered.
my weekend summed up.... Challenging weekend, great pace car was absolutely on point, but with motorsport... there is highs and lows, this weekend I have had a bit of everything. From finding even more pace, potentially challenging the top 5, too being in the thick of it and getting caught up in a big one. Unfortunately there is a fair bit of damage and we are assessing what direction we take moving forward for the rest of the season. At this point we will be missing the next 2 rounds, if not the rest of the season, but will definitely be back out there, as this category is just too much fun. Thanks to everyone who has supported me with this so far.
yeah mate I'm sweet, pissed off more then anything it was quite a quick car, has been racing in this series since 2012.
