PSACC Season 4 Rd 6 - Oulton Park
AM2: NZRobbo is protesting BVRacing for deliberate contact.
It is alleged that BVRacing has deliberately crashed into NZRobbo. The footage shows that BV turns the wheel to aim at NZRobbo and continues to accelerate through the corner.

BV's defence (posted by Gaz, BV's team captain):
Unfortunately BVRacing has had issues with both his wheel and pedals that night, and this is the moment that his wheel has disconnected. He couldn't save any footage, as his wheel was not operational after the incident. It's not clear exactly what went on from the footage, but you can see some odd oscillation of both the throttle and pedal at the same time in the latter part of the clip.

The clips at the end show what happens when I disconnect the wheel. I use fanatec and the throttle inputs stay the same once the wheel is disconnected. On G29 the throttle input goes to zero and the wheel goes straight.


Incident notes:
BV is a number of laps down and is shown blue flags for 8 corners prior to being lapped. - there is slight contact between BV and Robbo when Robbo laps BV, 2 corners prior to the incident. - BV turns earlier than you would for that corner, cuts the corner and then there is contact with Robbo. - BV throttle input stays solid then releases after contact. If this is determined a deliberate action then the penalty will be heavy. If we determine this was not a deliberate action then there will still be a penalty. If it is correct that BV was having wheel and pedal issues that caused the incident to occur then there are a few points that need to be considered. - BV ignored blue flags for a longer than reasonable timeframe eg more than 4 corners. best opportunity to pull over would have been between the chicanes. - similarly to having a broken car, wheel or pedal issues mean that a driver needs to get out of the way to avoid incidents occurring. If a broken car meant that BV could not turn or brake in time then the incident is still BVs fault.

Reasons for Penalty - BV is 2 laps down and takes a longer than reasonable timeframe to yield to Robbo. If in fact BV was yielding position on the exit of knickerbrook. The ideal spot to yield would on the straight between Brittens and Hislop, between chicanes. - it is noted that contact is made between Robbo and BV when Robbo attempts to lap BV. - If BV was experiencing Wheel/Pedal issues, he should have backed off earlier to avoid impacting other cars, especially if a lap down. This is the same if a car has sustained damage and becomes uncontrollable. - Not enough was done by BV to avoid an incident and warrants a penalty. In regards to the deliberate nature of the incident, BV says that we was experiencing Wheel/Pedal issues. the following observations have been made: - The steering, throttle and brake inputs in the footage appear to be uniform and without major issue that would cause a car to become uncontrollable. - BV appears to turn earlier than you need to for that corner and directly towards Robbo, cutting the corner in the process. If wheel and pedal issues had been occurring during the race then greater effort needed to be taken by BV to avoid contact. - If BV's wheel had an issue at the moment he turned to the right eg become uncontrollable, he did not attempt to slow down. he did not lift off the throttle nor did he apply the brake. There is a slight change in the throttle input prior to the incident then goes to 0 after contact. - after contact, the brake are applied and BV changes down the gear. - There is not enough evidence from this that the Wheel/Pedal issues caused the incident. - BV did not do enough to avoid the incident.
