A chain is as strong as its weakest link.
- WiFi is definitely a weak link and vulnerable to interference hits from other Wifi's/devices around.
- A Ethernet connection has no interference and constant and consistant data flow to and from your modem, and hence the preferred connection for anything fixed... TV etc blah blah
- RSP's are also subjective, and there are some better than others in how they manage their internet (WWW) connectivity NBNCo is not providing internet per se, only access from your premise to your RSP it is your RSP that is responsible for this function. of internet connectivity to the Sony Servers & WWW etc. Different RSP's manage gaming better than others (especially with regard to Latency)
- Polyphony and Sony Servers maybe having a performance bottleneck due the enhanced GT7 server requirements over GT sports, I suspect they are utilising the same server space for the 2 platforms and therefore contending for the same valuable space. 2nd theory is they may have not calculated the correct dimensioning of their servers and interconnectivity between servers. .Possibly to cut down on Server Costs as well
- Individual playstation processor performance maybe a factor but I will put on bottom of list, this. could also include PS4 vs PS5 functionality.a clearing of caches may help here
Take into account all the above , and you can see it could be complex to solve.
In your control is the home connectivity and local performance:
- clear caches
- Ethernet over Wifi if possible
- Choice of RSP and or Good Quality Modem/ Settings
- A decent up/down Internet plan.. 50/20 as a minimum
- Avoid Mobile networks as primary internet choice
