Just did 20 laps in the Mclaren P1 at Willow.
It has so much understeer and is crap to drive at Willow, and as for racing it there, 1 tap and you will be off the track, it is hard enough to stay on hot lapping. Just to clarify I was not slow.
I will miss this week as i see frustration and tears, but no way i will miss the awesome Round/5 combo.
Hope it goes better than i predict thrill seekers, Good Racing!!

I did something like 20 laps of Willow last night and maybe managed 4 or 5 without understeering off the track or turning the car around and managed 1 lap out of 6 tonight. I like to drive on the limit and cars like this are just beyond my capabilities so I'll pass this week. Looking at the remaining rounds there really aren't any that make me really want to race so at best I'm a maybe for the rest of the season

I understand your frustration with this combo, I love Big Willow and really love it in a car you can really push, this car takes all of my concentration to stay on track and takes a bit of the pleasure out of it. It is a bit like the Mustang for me in that you have to really measure the inputs. I have done a couple of race distances and haven't had a clean run, this afternoons effort was an 18 second spin on the final turn. I hope to find a rhythm that will allow me to race and stay on the track. I'm looking forward to the challenge and hoping it doesn't end in tears for me.

I'm also out this week (family committments), but I'm sure you won't miss me. Feel like I might have been miscast in Div1, but do enjoy chasing faster guys. :)

    WELCOME to Season 18!!
As always please take 2 mins to read the following so you have an understanding of what is expected on race night.
If you have any questions, or want clarification on any of the rules or regulations please ask!

    ROOM OPEN :
Most room captains will 'try' to have rooms open by about 7:30 AEDST. Please be on time, or let the room captain or div thread if you may be late. If all agree, the room may wait for you, Within reason. Please remember we have drivers from NZ, and later starts mean a much later night for them.

    QUALIFYING :
8:20 AEDST for 10 mins. We are using qualifying mode this season for qualifying.
Once 10 mins has been reached, finish the lap you are on and park up off track.
    PITS ARE OPEN DURING QUALIFYING
There will be 10 mins qualifying before both races.
    RACE START TIME :
8:30 AEDST (once qualifying has completed)
Race 2 will start after it's own qualifying, following the completion of race 1.

LAG ISSUES / ROOM RESTARTS :
This is up to the room host/captains. If there is a Disconnection (or cars stuck on grid) at race start, it is sporting to try to get them back in, which may mean a new room to be set up. I always look at 1 or 2 starts if required due to DSC, but as it gets later everyone needs to be aware of getting things going. Please be as reasonable as you can with this....
    SIGHT ISSUES:
Ensure that you can see everyone on track. Before qualifying, exit to lobby and spend 30 seconds in spectate mode, scroll through the list of drivers on track and make sure that you can see their car. If you can't see somebody (and they are confirmed as being on track), exit the lobby, re-join, and check again.

    FALSE START CHECK :
Please note that the start type is Grid Start with False Start Check
Please practice this so you know what to expect. Simply, you hold the brakes on until the lights go from all lit, to none lit

    TURN 1 LAP 1 :
This has the potential to ruin someone's night if we don't use our heads! Should be everyone's goal to get through the first phase with ZERO contact. Give room and run in your 'lane' till you have space to run the normal race line. If your unassisted tap causes someone to spin, you need to redress.

    TRACK LIMITS :
As we are running with 'track limit penalties" OFF, we will run with our usual Raceonoz track limit regulations. This means you MUST have at least 2 wheels on the ripple strip OR white line that defines the track limit. If you do make a mistake and have to run outside the limits, be aware that you are not allowed to gain any advantage.
Maggiore GP: The entry to T3 and the exit of T10 have a white line with tarmac outside that you are ALLOWED to use with all 4 wheels. Be careful with the limits at T4 & T13.

    CONTACT :
Is to be avoided at all times..... If you rear end someone and gain an advantage, YOU ARE EXPECTED to give the spot back. Side by side 'rubbing' is racing, within reason, but all drivers are expected to give racing room.
If you bump someone and they end up off track or teleport back to the corner entry, you must wait for them to rejoin and get back up to speed.
Show each other RESPECT! It is difficult enough to drive the car at the limit on your own, without someone squeezing you within a millimeter of the grass.
So be patient and show respect to your fellow drivers.
If you are redressing contact, please do so out of the way of other cars, off the racing line, or if there isn't much room, off track.

TYRES : Racing Softs for both cars

    PIT ENTRY :
Please attempt to follow the pit entry lane. Failure to do so may result in a penalty (especially in the instance another driver is affected).
Big Willow: Do not cut the solid line right of the entry lane.
Maggiore GP: Do not cut the solid line right of the entry lane.

    PIT EXIT :
Please attempt to follow the pit exit lane, Penalties will be adjudicated in similar fashion to Pit Entry. Please be aware of cars approaching on the straight.
Big Willow: Do not cut the solid line on the right of the exit.
Maggiore GP: Do not cut the solid line on the right of the exit.
    NOTE: Pitting is NOT COMPULSORY

    BLUE FLAGS :
Please observe blue flags, and move out of the way of faster cars if you are being lapped. Failure to observe blue flags WILL result in a penalty

STEWARDS GROUP AND RACE PROTESTS :
This season the steward will be @Hatfield. If you have reason to protest, please SAVE YOUR REPLAY, and then let him know via a PM.
DO NOT BLOW UP IN THE FORUM OR IN THE ROOM CHAT. There have been multiple incidents where the replays from drivers have been different, so its true that sometimes things are not as black and white as they may seem. You have until MIDNIGHT, Monday night to register your protest via PM. Stewards will ask for video evidence from both drivers or room captain to make any decision.

    SAVE YOUR REPLAY :
If the room host can ask all drivers to save their replay would be good before exiting the room.....once they exit out and the option goes, it cant be retrieved!

    PARKING UP :
If you are unable to continue to race, please enter the pits and leave your game paused without selecting tyres so that your car stays parked in the pits. Parking up off track activates yellow flags in the sector, and even though penalties are off, we have reports of penalties occurring for passes happening near the parked car.

    FINAL NOTE:
Could all drivers please confirm their attendance for this Sunday by 'liking' this post in your division. If you are unable to attend, please post in reply as much in your division. This way we can figure out our reserves or if the room can start early in advance.
(ALSO IF YOU KNOW YOU CANNOT ATTEND, PLEASE POST SAYING SO, SO THAT RESERVES CAN BE ORGANISED IN ADVANCE)
If you do not post in your room thread or psn chat that you cannot attend, a spot may not be held for you for the following weeks race

The rounds word of choice is 'Restraint' :D
Race 1, An incredibly powerful car combined with a circuit that punishes you for exceeding limits. Managed a race distance doing 1.10 to 1.11 per lap.
Race 2, Lovely car, just doesn't like to turn. Correct speed in to the corner is key here, to provide you with the correct line.

We've been spoilt for a long time with cars that you have to really drive at 99% or more to get the most out of them. Race 1 car, 50 to 80% would be the max you'd want to push it to get around the track.

I'm looking forward to see how others can handle it.

The lack of grip when behind another car is very challenging.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the speed this car travels and gains a slip stream.
I'll do another race practise tonight to test that. I'd rather not be last this week, but with C1 absent...
The 2nd race while the car isn't great to drive, at least it stays on the track :)

What are these 1.10’s you speak of. I haven’t seen one of those. Much more work required.

Both these cars need a front end tune, more downforce really.
Is there where I say I've been banging out 1:10s without TCS? :whistling:
@emmo46 has been getting 09s with TCS.

Quite a bit, I was doing 8s with opt in high 7s for a guide. Could do safe 8s by myself.
Suspect Noodles would do 7s easy, maybe even a 6 as I did not feel smooth on any laps.

I knew that this would probably the most difficult round in terms of car control this season, but was determined to give it a red hot go and keep the bloody things on the track.
In the McLaren, most of the race was spent trying to catch up to @Apex_64 and while in certain sectors I could gain time, it wasn't a net gain over a lap, so instead I had to stay out of reach of @UrsineSaturn9 and I only just managed it with him sniffing my rear over the line. However I didn't run off track while others did (bad luck to @LE_bananajosh & @Viperzed who went off ahead of me) so my result was 4th
In the Paginini (@Matthyus ) I had a great start to split the guys ahead at T2 and began attempting to hold off @LE_bananajosh who has had mega pace this season. It was going well until I ran over the sausage kerb too far and the car pitched sideways, letting josh and ursine through.
I didn't fall too far away though and grabbed ursine back soon after, however I could not pull in Josh.
Still 5th was a good result for me.
    Thanks for the livery @CaptainRisky21

As much as I would like to say it was me, it wasn't.
In the second race, I started last and stayed there, until I came across a lone and stationary @Apex_64 with 3 laps to go at the banked corner. I found this odd, but he started up as I passed him. Perhaps he felt bad for me and gave me something to drive for?
Race 1 was a keep it on the black stuff and for the most part I did, but I sadly had an excursion, but still didn't come last.
Race 2, I didn't get this car at all. I spent most of the time lifting off the gas to get turn-in so that I could get it around the corners.

I'm really glad we didn't get these cars as season cars.

On to a car / track combo I've had experience with. The Toyota 86 at Bathurst. The Race of Champions.
Let's hope I can navigate the dipper better this time...... Don't hold your breath.

Drove like a Nanna to stay on track especially once I was gifted 3rd in running, my best lap was 1sec off Pb in practice.

Someone does not like being passed, I nearly rage quit but saw you go past and thought ok here is a good 3 lap challenge. Felt like the car had a rudder instead of a wheel it took so long to react and turn.

I only bought the Pagani cos I couldn't find the Paganini :x3:
