I'll try to get a bit of needed practice in this weekend and join in if there is room, all good if you have a full room though.
Wow, what a night! Nearly had my first ever legit podium finish. First race was OK, qualified 7th and kept out of trouble for the most part. Managed to get up to 5th for a short period after @Matthyus and @emmo46 had a tete-a-tete at turn 4 and got my head down to build a gap. However, as was commented on the night it's not hard to lose your rhythm here, I was soon back in 7th after Emmo and Johnno caught and passed me after I had a couple of iffy laps that lost me race pace. Towards the end of the race AB_Saints was applying the blow torch from behind but I managed to keep ahead. Then with very little race left @Matthyus, who wasn't having a good night overall, had a mishap and I ended up 6th which would put me into P3 for the reverse grid start. Race 2 was soon underway and I was off to a good start, got into P4 and stuck to Johnno as best I could. His poor night continued with a trip through the sand at turn 4 and I was into P3! Get your head down and go I thought and so set about catching and sticking to @DAMN_RIGHT_BOB as best I could. Did some solid consistent mid to low 47 laps for the bulk of the race, at one stage got into slipstream range of Bob and got the gap to 4th out to 5s. 2 laps to go, still in 3rd, gap at 2.9s when suddenly I start the last lap and the gap back to Johnno is at 1.2s - WTF? He'd finally hooked things up, had a blinder FL at 46.5 and caught up. Into the 2nd last corner we go with him right on my tailpipe, we both run wide, recover through the last turn and.... curses and other swear words I get pipped at the post by 16 thousandths of a sec into 4th. Despite that I had a blast, thanks all for the close fair and fast racing. My second divisional round win so OK overall.
Solid racing all round! Sprint round is always enjoyable! Listening in on the chat, your finish with @Matthyus was exciting! I wasn't even watching where I was driving, just on the position listings!
So, after the MnG and this track feeling horrible, I knew I had some work to feel good on this track. I spend a great deal of time practicing it and managed to lay down consistent 47 flat's. Felt really good about my chances of a podium if not a win. Oh how wrong was I Pre-race Emmo and I were trading FL's for our pre race warm up laps, which was awesome, until he pips me by getting into the 46's. The race is on!! Qual Horribad qual. In hindsight, should have conceded space and given Lennon track room, instead we decided to fight each other and this undid us both. We eventually smartened up and gave each other space and got down to it. Luckily we had lots of laps Managed an OK 6th with 47.3. The top 7 were separated by .4!! Race 1 Let's just move on to Race 2 shall we? Race 2 Started on the front row and thought with my 'known' pace I should be able to get away from the winners of the last race while they moved through the grid. Alas as @T F Eccles mentioned, it wasn't my night. I was all over the shop and was barely able to keep the car on the track, losing first and trading it for 6th... Then all of a sudden, I found me groove!!!! Half the bloody way through the 2nd race. Screw you Mojo!! Col, mentioned above all the fun bits, but nailing that FL of 46.5 was a highlight, blowing my PB of 47 flat out of the water!! That last straight drag was fun though!! @kudos to Bluemoon for the Race 1 win @kudos to @Buster_Danis on the Race 2 win Let us move away from Sprint rounds (cause I suck at them) to something with some strategy!! See you next week at 'shudder' Autopolis
My race summary; Race 1: - Snagged pole with a 47 flat, surprisingly. I really didn't expect that. - Broke away with @Bluemoon hot on me, who then found pace. - Tried to break Moon being in my slip stream alot down the straight. - Eventually caught up with and passed me entering the infield. - Moon broke away and I lost confidence, with @Buster_Danis catching. - Couldnt match qualifying times, and eventually fell back to 3rd. Race 2: - I do not wish to comment. Congrats Buster and Moon!
