From testing tonight, there is one thing that really goes in favour of the Indy Car for me, and that is the strategy aspect. Firstly there's the fuel burn. Even on lean, on the tracks I tested you will only get around a 30 minute stint on a full tank (70L) and worse again on the default 'Rich' setting. Secondly there's the tyres, the default is to start a session on the 'Alternative' (soft) tyre, and it is a really soft tyre. Whilst clearly faster when fresh, it wears at least 4 times faster than the 'Primary' compound, and it quickly becomes tricky to maintain consistency on. On some tracks, with the tyre wear set to Authentic, the softs could easily chew 4 to 5% in a lap if you push hard, and the they are noticably worse when they get too hot. The harder tyre is obviously far more durable and also seems to tollerate temperature better and is only marginally slower. So all up, a season in this car would mean pitting for fuel every race (and at least twice in the enduro round), plus a need to be kind to the soft tyre early in the race so that you can make it to your fuel window without too much tyre wear.
Sorry, too much talk about running an open wheeler. Whilst it sounds like fun it jus doesn't work with the majority. If you want to run open wheel, go buy F1 2018 and go run in that. Last time we ran open wheel we had the smallest grids ever.....
I think the Renault would be a good season car the indy car is more fun to drive but the tyre wear and fuel burn could put people off.
luckily we have choice here at rooz. if you don't like the car in pc2, come try gt sport for a season. then go back when the car is more appealing
People who don't play Project Cars, or at least haven't made the effort to get used to it, just don't understand the things GT Sport lacks.
Having done leagues in both. They have their pro's and cons for sure. But both produce fun racing here on rooz regardless.
I have had a play with both and enjoyed both classes a lot, however i think i am leaning towards the Renault 3.5L. Not that this lonely old Kiwi's opinion counts. Just thought i would throw my 2 cents worth in the mix. lol
I love the Aussie banter, its funny though, in NZ the lonely old KIWI's opinion is really important... More important than the lonely old Aussie.... Is it right to use sand paper to modify a cricket ball, Kiwis say no, Aussie says yes. LOL. Maybe we could create an Aussie vs New Zealand season????
@JonoStan96 was operating a State of Origin series in Gran Turismo, maybe something could be run here in Pcars too
