Had a yarn last night with @VARDZ and @Mustafur, they had an idea for a new look qualifying shootout. Qually is held the week before the race, which will set the grid, while the top 5 (in each room) will do a one lap shootout for pole position. Unless there are a few objections I’d be keen on this
I know it is probably a disadvantage for @KeedenMcdonald & myself, but in multi driver teams, you could average the best lap from each of the drivers for their qualifying time
Don't forget extra weight doesn't just increase lap time, but also faster tyre wear and more fuel burn. We'll be slower and pitting more frequently/for longer than everyone else.
3 hour race. Starting driver is going to be more important than grid position. It's not like your 1-2sec a lap difference in quali time is going to influence the race results.
Nah no need for that rubbish, only having one driver do a lap would be acceptable, would make for an interesting grid too. At the moment I’m thinking a 60 min session with 12 total laps (ala F1 qualifying up until 2003) with fuel burn on very high to ensure half the session isn’t wasted fuel burning (2006-2007 style) The top 5 shootout would be akin to the 2003-2005 style, one lap only.
We are at Bathurst And there’s is no safety cars, you don’t wanna be at the back for fun when the dust settles after 3 laps
Exactly why I said starting driver is more important than grid position. I wouldn't start with your slower driver because regardless of qualifying position they're going to get swamped. Always better to be the driver trying to pass than the one under pressure, especially around here. I swear you like to argue with me just for the sake of it.
Give me a spell the worlds not out to get you, especially in here a community event definitely not. was only replying to you And don’t take offence plsss we joke here
Ah here’s how it’s gonna go down alright, will update op soon Qualifying for Bathurst 3 Hour: 2 rooms will be opened on the Saturday week before the race. During the hour long session you get 12 laps (not going to have the old F1 system) to set a time. Local teams will need to nominate a driver to do the laps. Teams/drivers that do not set a lap will be sent to the back. The Grid will be set for the two rooms based on these times, and the top 5 in each room will take part in a pre race Top 5 Shootout the following week. The shootout will be run approx 30-45 mins before the scheduled race start, with a 10 min cool off period before the green flag. The shootout itself will follow the same format as the Top 10 shootout in Supercars. People are free to spectate the laps! The rooms themselves will be sorted out via RNG before qualifying.
multiple driver teams should have an average of there entire teams times... just like the real Blancpain GT3 series
