I have a decent net connection so could host also. Perhaps backup if someone with more experience is required?
I have tried to host with a stable 50/20 connection and some of the eastern guys had connection issues, I think it would be better if one of the eastern guys hosted especially with our kiwi brothers.
I've got a 100/40 connection so it might be alright. But I do understand that the distance could cause issues. Worth a shot at least. Perhaps I'll run a practise session today and see what happens.
I have been in both of your rooms before, and Johno has a better connection. Saying that, Aro has a stable one as well, and could possibly be backup host
Coon beans. I'll still attempt a state of origin practise session today at some point so if anyone wants to join add me and join away. No idea when though
Definitely worth a shot but I think the backup should be eastern states, how's your nbn @Tristan Jones?
We just connected a few weeks ago, I got the 25mbps connection, getting consistant 20-22 down, 4 up. The connection bar says 3/5 - though I haven't seen any lagging since getting NBN, used to see a little, mostly one car at a time. We only have 50mbps line possible. I technically hosted a room when pat left the room midweek during practise last season...no one mentioned lag. I should be right to be backup, being there every week - will have a chat and experiment hosting a lobby sometime before start of season.
I haven't been doing much in forums of late...after grinding the GT campaign, only have the 2 endurance to go, then tried to gold a few missions and got them by a few seconds...so figured I would grind them until done...finished gold in Driving school, now have one gold to go in missions - they are so much easier since the physics update! When I had another go (i previously only got bronze just to get it passed, sometimes got gold or silver first try) I see some of my previous best times are better than the current asking time for gold. These are now all a bit too easy! Although I now have a bit of experience with the game under my belt, might count for something, and being able to use the Laferrari that blitzs everything! Where are the rest of the div 4 at with missions/ GT mode?
A fraction more than gold time, whatever it was! I only spent about 10 laps trying for a time, and it was very repeatable at that point. This is the first league I have raced in, I didn't want to game the rankings by spending days on one track and not being quick at anything else. Little did I know I would spend days practising the weekly race tracks! I saw a few of the ROOZ guys still beat my new gold time by a few seconds, though they are mostly higher divs now. I think div 4 is good for me for now. Most of these guys I have seen do a qualy faster than me, though during the race consistancy seems to be my friend - maybe I am just not pushing the envelope as far as I can. I only had one spin last season, following @Green Terror who made a mistake in a corner, and I spun off behund him. I made PLENTY of other small mistakes costing time, but not spins/ big offs. I am looking forward to the endurance races now, after having read about and learned the impact that coasting and short shifting has! After reading about it on GTPlanet and trying it out on the GT campaign races, I am now keen to do a bit of this in these league races! I came last in one race last season, Bathurst - I wasn't using tuning by then, the boys had a few seconds per lap on me - and I had a pit stop extra on most. Having said all of that, I finished about halfway in the championship - though even that is skewed a bit for actually turning up to every race except one.
Consistency is the key as a spin costs at least 10-15 seconds and that is hard to make up. In my most successful seasons I have managed to keep it on track for most races and sometimes I can do a completely spinless season, but this last season I spun at least once every race and some races I even managed a couple.
Got 6, 7 and 8 to go in the mission challenges. All others are done in Gold. GT League is all done bar Professional and Endurance Leagues. Time is not my side. I'm spending far too much time attempting to learn to decal
Consistancy is great...sometimes a faster lap gets all the glory though! I went kart racing in Brissie with my sis and 2 bros - I lapped them all a few times, as they kept spinning, I only spun twice - but my sisters best lap was 0.002 better than mine...giving her bragging rights until we get to the track again!
Yup. Learning correct Throttle Control will benefit you over the longer run, but I've yet to fully remove myself from TCS. Using the Mustang and with it being an FR car (although a lower powered FR), I find using TCS is sort of needed. But with it being lower powered than most other cars, it would be a good idea to learn without it. I might end up with a few FL's this season if I manage to learn without TCS
Yeah I need to turn off TCS as I feel it really restricting my car as others whizz past me obviously not using it. Offline mode I have gold all the way through, i found stage 8-6 challenge on the oval the hardest to complete Gold. Took a number of attempts - probably over 10 or so!
Consistency was my enemy in season 1 which was mainly caused by my inexperience in traffic, I'd panic in traffic which would cause mistakes and lead to spins so I've been working on that in the off season, driving without TCS certainly didn't help in those situations but I figure learning how to drive without it is the best way to go for the future. As far as campaign goes one hardly touched it, I've got gold in the driving school, I've only done the first set of missions, selected tracks in track experience and the Sunday cup. I might not them up today though. @Matthyus & @Tristan Jones, when can you guys get on to do a host test?
